An apprenticeship is an agreement between a person (an apprentice) who wants to learn a skill and an employer who needs a skilled worker. Most apprenticeships lead to acquiring a professional license to practice in a regulated profession or trade. Apprenticeship training is done while working for an employer who helps the apprentice learn their trade or profession. Some apprenticeships are also part of a college, vocational school or university program. The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program is funded by the Government of Ontario.

GPHS Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program students Dredin Taylor and Devin Tasco were two of about 250 OYAP students competing at Options.
